Interactive marketing experience I designed for the summer 2016 Hack the 6ix hackathon. My technical contributions included the image recognition functionality in python and working on the iOS app coded with swift in Xcode. Do For Dew was selected as one of the winning projects at the hackathon.
Inspired by apps like Geocaching and Molson Canadian advertising campaigns, the concept was to create a scavenger hunt app that got people outside trying different activities and rewarded them for doing so. Users would partake in activities that reflected the Mountain Dew brand such playing basketball or other sports. Through the app, you could share a photo of the activity on social media with the hashtag #DoForDew. This creates a brand interaction and social media attention for Mountain Dew, it also allows verification of the activity using the image recognition Indico API. After completing a specificied number of tasks, you are awarded a free Mountain Dew from a promotional vending machines. These vending machines would be located in high traffic areas to also serve as a method of discovering the app.
